One of the apps I like is called Words that Burn (pictured above) and it is a free poetry app. It explores various poets and their most famous works, and it has video and audio of an actor/actress reading the poem aloud. That's pretty cool, but the part I like best allows students to create and record their own poems; it even has a tab called "Inspire Me" and offers lists of favorite words used by each of the featured poets! Very cool, and it can turn Quad A into Quad D...magically!

Another app I like is called Brain Pop (pictured below) and it costs $6.99 or $2.99 per month, depending on whether the buyer wishes to have full or partial access. However, it's good to know that you may cancel access to this app at any time. Brain Pop offers animated cartoon tutorials with accompanying quizzes for a wide variety of categories for practically all subjects. For high school English, I like the sections on etymology, research, paraphrasing, and research citations. Each Brain Pop tutorial can serve as an introduction, a review, or make-up work for students who do not understand or students who have been absent.

My third app costs only $4.99 and is pictured below. It's called The Fantastic Flying Books of Morris Lessmore, and it was taken from an Oscar-winning short film by the same name. The movie inspired the creation of this innovative and interactive book, and honestly, it's fun for kids and adults alike. I DARE YOU--Go ahead, and just TRY not to love this app! I can think of all kinds of ways to incorporate the themes and creativity this app could inspire within readers, thinkers, and writers in my classes. Yep, I LOVE it!
